Our Holiday to Boa Vista, Cape Verde

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Hello, lovelies!

If you've been reading Who's That Girl? for a little while now, (firstly thank you) you'll know at the end of last year/beginning of this year I was lucky enough to win a MomentMakers holiday with Thomson. You'll also know that after some endless scrolling on the Thomson website we decided to book 10 nights at the Riu Touareg hotel on the island of Boa Vista in Cape Verde.

We flew out from Manchester Airport on the 15th May and stayed in Boa Vista until the 25th May. I've shared many holiday snaps on my Instagram over the last few weeks since returning home, as well as filming a little video for my YouTube channel, but I wanted to pop up a blog post to share even more of our incredible 10 nights in Boa Vista.

Ghost In The Shell | Film Review

Saturday, April 08, 2017

Film reviews were something I posted regularly back when I first started blogging.

Granted working in a cinema made seeing the new releases a lot easier but then I found I was working a lot more which meant I had a lot less time to go and see films, plus the last place I wanted to spend my days off were at my place of work so film reviews began to become quite sparse.

I miss it though. I miss going to the cinema and I miss sharing my thoughts with you guys so I've considered bringing it back. I can't promise they'll be regular posts like my #MovieMonday series on Cake Crumbs and Pages or if I'll mention every single film I go and see, but if I feel it's worth a mention then, then I might pop up a small review for you guys.

Which brings me onto the main subject for today's post. This week we headed to our local cinema to check out the long-awaited Ghost In The Shell.

Long-Term Meal Planning

Long-Term Meal Planning

Meal planning.
I understand it may not be for everyone. I had tried it once before and personally, found it an absolute lifesaver.
S and I are the worst at making decisions about absolutely anything, let alone what to have for dinner. And I'm awful at skipping meals. Breakfast, nah. Lunch, only if I'm hungry.
It's a pretty awful habit to get into and I'm determined to break it.

February's Discovery Box | Teatourist

Feb-Teatourist

February is the month of love and for the month of February TeaTourist* is showcasing their love for black teas in this Discovery box.

For me personally, I am a big black tea drinker as my all-time favourite tea and tea of choice is the organic tea by a brand called Clipper. It may be a sin in the terms of black tea rules but I do still opt to put a dash of milk in, so shoot me! but for me it's just the perfect combination.

So when I opened up February's Discovery Box and saw it was filled with 6 very interesting looking black tears I was curious to see what TeaTourist* had in store.

Mother's Day Gift Guide with Amara

Amara Mother's Day

Mother's Day, a day to celebrate the special woman in your life. To celebrate motherhood. To show your mum or a mother-like figure just how much she means to you.

My mum is my idol. She has been there for me during the toughest times and has never once asked for anything in return. No matter what's thrown at her, she shows a strength I never imagined possible and I can only hope if one day I am blessed with the gift of having my own children that I can somehow show even the tiniest bit of strength that she has shown throughout my life.

Primark Haul | March 2017

bikinihaul

We fly to Cape Verde in 63 days. Which is absolutely crazy!!!

While sorting through my wardrobe, I realised I don't actually own that many pairs of shorts or pieces of swimwear/beachwear so of course that meant a much needed visit to Primark.

I recently met up with my little sister for a browse of the brand new Primark store which has opened up in Fosse Park, Leicester. I only have one question, why has it taken me this long to visit?!

Sorry, you have no idea what I'm talking about? You can read all about our #MomentMakers holiday if you haven't already.

Homemade Pizza with #NowCookIt

Homemade Pizza with #NowCookIt
I love experimenting in the kitchen. I also love spending time with S, which is a good thing really seeing as we live together. Putting those things together means we get together every now and then to create something delicious!

Whether that's Ninjabread Men, a Gingerbread house, Jane Patisserie's Terry's Chocolate Orange cookies or, in this instance the Co-op and SortedFood's #NowCookIt Build Your Own Pizza!

January's Discover Box | TeaTourist

January's Discover Box

It's absolutely no secret how much I love tea. I recently bought a print from DotCreates which reads "A good cup of tea makes everything better" and I don't know about you but I've never heard a truer word spoken. It really does!

Last month I shared with all you fellow tea lovers, the perfect monthly subscription box. The response was incredible, I never knew how many of us tea-lovers there really were. So, when the lovely Joss emailed me last month and explained she'd sent out January's Discovery Box I was genuinely so excited!

December's box was filled with festive flavours, I couldn't wait to see what the guys had in store for January.

Cute Valentine's Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Valentine's Day. A day to celebrate love, whether that's expressing your love for your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, dog, cat or even your gal friends.

As I've mentioned briefly already (in my Sew Bloom review post, please be sure to check it out if you haven't already) S and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day. This will be our 3rd and although we're not about the conventional gifts we do get each other a card. To me, that means a lot more than a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates.

A card and the words written in it is something I can treasure forever.  I know he's taken a lot of time deciding what card to buy and I know he's taken a lot of time thinking about what he's going to write.

That to me means the world. So rather than buy each other lavish gifts I decided to make some super cute peanut butter chocolate cookies - because S adores anything peanut butter flavoured and although I'm a bit "love it or hate it" I wanted to experiment.

Flying The Nest | 6 months on...

Flying The Nest | 6 months on...

This week marked 6 months since I officially moved out of my family home. S and I had technically been living together on-off for 2 years previously but on the 1st September 2016 we took the leap and signed our lives away the contract for our new home.

Looking back on one of the most stressful yet exciting life adventures I've experienced so far, I really wish I'd taken the time to get the camera out and film. For those of you who don't know we have our own YouTube channel, where we share videos (or vlogs if you're down with the kids) of fun days out and life experiences, I really think it would've been nice to have something to look back on.

That said, while I sit here typing this post and I think back to just how stressful the whole experience was, I'm somewhat proud of myself for getting through it even if there were the odd tears of frustration.

I also can't actually believe it's been 6 months already!

The Perfect Subscription Box For Tea-Lovers

Thursday, January 26, 2017

Tea Tourist

"What is Teatourist?" I hear you ask.

Well, for those of you who don't know Teatourist* a monthly subscription box perfect for tea addicts like myself. The monthly subscription costs just £14.95 and each month you will be sent not one, not two, but six wonderfully different loose leaf tea samples to try all from companies and brands you've probably never heard of before. Teatourist, bringing the world of loose leaf tea to you!

Just before Christmas, I was contacted by the lovely Joss from Tea-Tourist*, who after reading about my love for tea asked if I would like to be sent the December box. No strings attached!

With the rush and mayhem of Christmas looming I was gutted I'd read Joss's email too late. Or so I thought. I quickly replied letting Joss know I was definitely interested in trying a box but fully understood I was too late for their December dispatch and I was happy to wait until January. It'd be like an extra Christmas present. Within a day or two I received another email from Joss explaining she'd rushed a December box out for me, no problem at all - How nice is that?!

I was genuinely over the moon and could not wait for my box to arrive. It did, and before Christmas too!!

So, shall we take a look what's inside?

Roses Are Red, Violet's Are Blue

Friday, January 20, 2017

I've never really been one for celebrating Valentine's Day. Long before I was in a relationship. This year will be our 3rd and at the moment we have nothing planned. This doesn't make me sad at all, though. S and I are very similar in the sense that we don't need a particular day to tell each other how we feel.

The lovely Hannah from Sew Bloom* recently sent out a tweet on Twitter asking people to get in touch who would like to review her handmade Valentine's Day cards and as I'm always on the look out for something a little different and out of the ordinary, I got in touch.

What I Got For Christmas | 2016

Monday, January 16, 2017

I've argued with myself on numerous occasions whether or not to publish this post.

I've posted one every year for the past 2 years over on my previous blog Cake Crumbs and Pages and what with the launch of this blog, I wanted to keep all new content for here. Then once again I saw a lot of stigma surrounding this type of post and I asked myself "do I really want that negativity on my new blog?" and the answer, was no!

But then I took to Twitter and I asked you guys whether you'd like to see a 'What I Got For Christmas" post and do you know what? The response was crazy. Whether you like these posts or not, it's undeniable that we as a nation are noisy. Whether it's seeing what people received for Christmas or Birthday's or whether it's something completely different, we love taking a step into other people's lives so I've decided to publish this post anyway.

For those that enjoy being noisy.

The Perfect Way To Get Over The Festive Blues | AD

Thursday, January 12, 2017

Are the Christmas blues hitting you hard? Fear not, I have the perfect solution (or two).
Lily Vanilli, London's favorite baker teamed up with Bailey's during the month of December and I was contacted by Megan from Foodies100 / TastePR who asked me if I would like to receive a bottle of Bailey's to bake with.

I absolutely LOVE Bailey's and the thought of experimenting with it rather than just drinking it *hic* fascinated me so, of course, I said yes!

I will most definitely be trying out Lily's other recipes in the future but for this post, I have a very delicious recipe of my own and I'm super excited to share them with you.

What Happens When...

Sunday, January 08, 2017

I was going to wait a few days to post this. Let it sink in and properly introduce you to my new blog in the meantime but, even two days on I am still freaking out and I want to scream it from the rooftop.

So, what happens when Thomson tweet you saying they want to give you £1,000 in vouchers to go on holiday?
