WTG Unicorn Cake

As you guys know I recently celebrated my birthday. My 27th birthday.

It's not that I don't enjoy birthdays. I love them, whether it's my own or someone else's I love getting together with my favourite people and spending some good quality time with them.

This year was a little different though in the sense that this birthday, marks 3 years until I am 30 and I don't know if I'm okay with that... I mean, can we take a second to think about the fact that 1990 was almost 30 years ago!!

On a much lighter note I did, however, have a lovely birthday. Thank you to everyone that sent me lovely birthday messages over on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. You guys are awesome!

On Wednesday, the celebrations began nice and early with my family. I held a homemade afternoon tea complete with 4 different types of sandwiches, homemade mini quiches which went down so well, mini sausage rolls and a tonne of mini cakes. There were Bakewell slices, lemon slices, chocolate slices and my absolute favourite chocolate eclairs but the star of the show was of course, my birthday cake!

Which I made myself and without sounding big headed, I think it turned out pretty amazing!

On Thursday, S and I took a spontaneous trip over to a little place called Foxton Locks. Turns out it's a lot farther from us than I remember it being, around 40 minutes car drive but it was totally worth it.

I don't particularly remember ever having nice weather on my birthday the perks of being born at the end of summer/beginning of autumn but we genuinely couldn't believe how lucky we'd been. It was a scorcher and just so lovely sitting and watching the barges go by with no cares in the world.

It was such a nice day I decided to vlog little bits for my YouTube channel so that I can rewatch in years to come.

  1. That is such a gorgeous cake! I actually have a bit of fear of growing up, I turned 17 last week and I'm just scared about the fact I'm turning 18 next year!

    1. Thank you! That's so kind of you to say. Also, I think it's fairly normal to feel a bit scared of growing up. Time definitely seems to go a lot faster as you get older, but it's normal. I think it's more of the 'not knowing' than anything else. Enjoy being young and try not to worry too much :) x
